Shodoshima’s location in the Seto Inland Sea makes it a perfect destination for a variety of marine sports with calm and crystal-clear waters. Traditions

How about immersing yourself in some of the traditions of Shodoshima? In Tonoshocho, there is Meiro no Machi (Maze Town), built 700 years ago to protect residents from pirates and winds. And in autumn, the island comes alive during the “Aki Matsuri Taiko-dai Hōnō” festival, where over 100 people carry a 2-ton drum float.

Henro Pilgrimage

Shodoshima has a traditional pilgrimage called the Shodoshima Ohenro, covering around 150km with mountainous shrines and temples, including those within caves. It offers a unique experience with breathtaking views of the mountains and sea, recommended even for beginners.
